~ About Marta ~
I am a licensed psychotherapist and have been in practice since 1995. I have a Master's degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, and a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Over the past twenty-eight years I have worked with a wide range of people who want to understand themselves more deeply, decrease their suffering, and improve the quality of their lives.
~ Are you considering psychotherapy?
~ Are you stuck in old habits, but unsure of how to do things differently?
~ What would happen if you truly expressed yourself?
~ What’s holding you back?
I will support you in working through your internal conflicts that can cause anxiety and block your self expression, thus allowing a greater range of feelings and awareness, and the opportunity to practice new behaviors. I will encourage you to draw on your inner strength and wisdom, so that you can make healthier life choices.
Through increased awareness, you can uncover your destructive belief patterns and addictive behaviors, to identify your true needs and find new ways to fulfill them. This self-discovery process helps in developing more direct and honest communication, healthier interpersonal relationships, more satisfying work, school, and family life, and greater self-confidence.

I love working with people who want to enrich the quality of their lives, through personal development, deepening their relationship to self and others, nurturing their inner life and creative expression, defining their life direction and goals, understanding their family of origin dynamics in order to free themselves from the repetitive patterns which are rooted in the past.
My own life's journey has taken me many places, difficult and rewarding, deeply painful and immensely joyful. I have explored my own therapeutic process for many years, so that I may have as much self-awareness as possible as I am guiding others. I feel strongly that this process helps me to be more clear and present with my clients, and the best therapist I can be.
My style of psychotherapy is a synthesis of transpersonal, contemplative, and psychodynamic approaches. I also use Gestalt parts work, a multi-disciplinary approach to dreams, and shamanic journeying to connect with unconscious material, and explore deep inner landscapes. I strive to help my clients to be truly who they are, to live and express themselves with freedom and choice, to build inner strength and clarity so that they're able to deal with the challenges of life, to move through obstacles toward a wider range of options, to love and accept all aspects of themselves, even the ones that are painful or ugly, vulnerable or shameful, to be a more fully integrated and whole person. When we love ourselves, we can truly give and receive love.
